The day we’ve all been waiting for is finally here. It’s early access day for The Traitors: Anywhere. But what does that mean, exactly?
Players who signed up to the waitlist, built their Castles and purchased their passes before 20 August have gained early access to The Traitors: Anywhere. Depending on what time you’re reading this, they could be deliberating at The Round Table or building up their prize pot by completing Missions already. Some of them could be deliberating in their Conclaves about which Faithful will be their first target.
Don’t worry if you missed out. The game officially launches for everyone next week on 15 September, so everyone with a pass and a Castle of at least 8 players will be in on the action soon enough. Read on to find out some things you might not know about the game yet…
It All Starts With a Survey
As superfans will know, before you can take on the role of Traitor or Faithful, you must be allowed to declare your preferences.
Before the game begins, all players will be invited to a private interview with the Host, who will ask you a series of questions, including whether you wish to play as a Traitor or Faithful.
Some of the questions will surprise you, others will get you thinking. The rest will remain a secret until you play.
But don’t forget, even the most Faithful of Faithfuls can fall into the Traitors’ clutches. They may try to recruit you even if you’ve asked not to be a Traitor. Should this happen, you’ll have a decision to make: accept, or accept the consequences.
Learn More About Your Fellow Players
The beauty of The Traitors: Anywhere is that you can be pretty much anywhere while you play it. That means there’ll be games where some players live together while others haven’t seen each other in years.
No matter where on that scale you and your fellow players sit, know this: you’re about to discover more about the people you think you know, and a lot of it will surprise you.
For instance, do you know which of your acquaintances can do the best impression of a baby goat? No, we thought not.
Voice Notes, Video Clips and Photos
All of the action in The Traitors: Anywhere happens over WhatsApp, but it’s not limited to just text messages.
Throughout the game, you’ll be prompted to send voice notes or video clips. In most cases, these are entirely optional, but they do add an extra layer of entertainment for your fellow players.
If you don’t want us to use or share them in our marketing or on socials, make sure you select “No thanks” when asked for permission during your survey.
In your Castle and Conclave group chats, feel free to send GIFs, voice notes, video clips, photos and emojis to your heart’s content.
Abide By Your House Rules
Before the game begins, the organiser has a chance to set some house rules of their own for the whole group to abide by.
These rules may include things like forbidding screenshots, the forwarding of messages, or using online status or read receipts as evidence. And those are just the serious options.
One team has requested that dragons not enter their Castle, and this also seems like a good time to give a shout out to the team who are offering a delicious homemade cake to the winner of their game!
Whatever rules you decide on, remember: this is a game and is designed to be fun and inclusive. Enjoy yourselves and play respectfully!
