If you haven’t joined a game of The Traitors: Anywhere yet, there might be a few things you’re still wondering about. We can help with that!
So much happens over the course of the game that it would take too long to write about every single detail included, but if we had to tell you just six things you need to know about The Traitors: Anywhere, this is what we’d say…
Each Game of The Traitors: Anywhere is Unique
Each game of The Traitors: Anywhere is as unique as the people you play with, and that goes for re-matches, with or without the original people you played with.
Traitors are chosen from a pool of players who said that they would like to play as one in the interview with the Host before the game begins. If no one opts to be a Traitor, they will be randomly selected.
If you decide to play another game after the original game ends, you will answer questions in a new interview, and an entirely new game will commence.
It’s Designed to Be Played With People You Already Know
The Traitors: Anywhere is a game that works best when played by groups of friends, family or acquaintances.
Gameplay has been designed for players who already know each other. You’ll learn more about each other as the game progresses, so it’s a great icebreaker for corporate groups or organisations. But it’s also important that all players feel comfortable in the Castle.
Some of the Missions rely on you being able to deduce your fellow players’ answers to earn gold, and all of the gameplay features are more enjoyable when you share them with players you trust.
We do not recommend playing with strangers.
Murders, Banishment and Deception Are Part Of The Fun
Similarly, while it might feel like you’re actually in a Castle, The Traitors: Anywhere is a game.
The whole experience is about having fun and enjoying the tension that arises from knowing that you don’t know who’s pulling the strings… or pretending that it isn’t you!
Accuse, deflect and defend at The Round Table to your hearts’ content, but remember, it’s a game, and the most important thing is that everyone’s having fun.
You Can Add Some Rules Of Your Own
Don’t want screenshots to be shared or want everyone to turn off online statuses on WhatsApp before starting?
The general rules of the game are laid out in the Player Manual, which is sent to all players once the game begins, but the organiser can also add some house rules of their own.
Gameplay is completed through one-on-one WhatsApp chats between individual players and the Host, but the Castle group chat is yours. Courtesy is key and keeps the game fun for everyone.
Gameplay Length Varies Depending On Castle Sizes
In The Traitors: Anywhere, there’s no knowing exactly how long your game will last.
Firstly, your game is technically “over” once you’ve been either Banished or Murdered, although you can still complete some of the Missions as a Ghost. We recommend you do this, because if you’re the highest-scoring Ghost, you earn a free pass to play in a new game.
Gameplay can last from 5 to 15 days, depending on the starting size of the Castle. The more players there are, the more gameplay you get.
You Can Adjust Your Game’s Schedule
Once the game starts, some players become glued to the group chat and never want to leave it, while others only have enough time to dip in and out when it suits them. Either way, it’s entirely up to you.
The Traitors: Anywhere runs on a timetabled set of events, including breakfast, Missions, and votes at The Round Table. If you want to make these shorter or longer to suit your group, the organiser can do so by adjusting the schedule in their dashboard. Note that any changes will take effect 24 hours after they have been made.
Finally, players who do not engage with the Host at all within the first 24 hours of the game will be automatically removed. After that, players who wish to leave the game must be either Banished or Murdered by their fellow players.
