All the times you’ve shouted at the TV, unable to believe how players can’t see the treachery unfolding right under their noses, have led to this. It’s your turn to take your seat at The Round Table by playing The Traitors: Anywhere.
We’ve made this experience for everyone: superfans, casual watchers, and even people who’ve never had the delight of seeing Traitors unmasked on television.
The Traitors: Anywhere is an official game of the hit TV show, brought to you by CityDays in partnership with the license holders. This is your chance to get involved in the treachery closer to home, with the people you think you know, and we can’t wait for you to start playing.
If you still need a bit of convincing that we’ve included all your favourite bits, read on. We’ll reveal some of the secrets we’ve been hanging onto for the past few months about the kind of gameplay you can expect, and maybe even some of the gameplay you won’t be expecting...
The Traitors: Anywhere Missions
When we asked you what you most wanted to know about The Traitors: Anywhere, a lot of you had questions about what the Missions would be like.
In case you missed that post, yes, we can confirm that players will take part in Missions to build up the prize pot. We don’t want to give away exactly what the Missions are just yet (that’s for players to discover), but we can promise that we’ve found some creative ways to get players working together.
Sometimes you’ll only need to work by yourself, while at other times you’ll have to ask for help from the rest of the Castle. The Mission pool is varied and they’re often influenced by the pre-game survey (more on that next!).
Do You Have What It Takes to Be a Traitor?
Before The Traitors: Anywhere begins, all players will be sent a private pre-game survey conducted by our Host. You’ll be asked all sorts of questions, including the burning question of whether or not you would like to play as a Traitor.
The Host will randomly select one or more of the players who opted to play as Traitors, depending on your group’s size. In keeping with the show, players will never be told how many Traitors there are in a game – that’s for the Faithfuls to figure out.
Whatever you decide, your fate isn’t sealed in the interview. Traitors may try to recruit Faithful players during the game, and it’ll be up to them to accept, or face the consequences.
Banishments and Betrayal at The Round Table
Banishment is one of the most integral parts of The Traitors, so it’ll come as no surprise to fans that you will still “meet” at The Round Table during The Traitors: Anywhere. The twist is that this time, players are able to accuse, defend, and vote from anywhere they like.
If you’re worried about some of the suspense being lost by not seeing your fellow players face-to-face, don’t be. Firstly, there’s nothing to stop you playing with those in close proximity to you (e.g., people you live or work with), but even if you’re never physically in the same room as your fellow players, rest assured that the nail-biting moments are still there.
Players can get as creative as they like when it comes to submitting their votes: leave a voice note, send a video, write an essay about how suspicious someone’s behaviour is or cause a stir by just submitting a name. Each method is likely to raise as many questions as the next…
Banished or Murdered? Plan Your Comeback…
It wouldn’t be The Traitors: Anywhere if everyone survived until the end.
Whether the Traitors put a target on your back or your fellow players decide you’re up to no good the moment you start playing, the total number of players starts diminishing as early as the first full day of the game.
Don’t worry, though. If you’re the first player to be Murdered or Banished from your group, you haven’t joined the game for nothing. We’ll return the passes to the first dearly departed players so they can start a new game, in the hopes that they have better chances of surviving until the end next time.
But even if you're Murdered or Banished later down the line, you still have a chance to earn a free pass for the next game. Eliminated players can still take part in some Missions as ghosts: your winnings won’t go to the overall prize pot, but the top-scoring ghost will earn a free pass for their efforts!
The Final Unmasking: Who Has Been Keeping a Secret?
When the final day is upon you, the game takes a turn. You will no longer be made aware of Banished Players true alliances, so you’ll just have to trust your gut and wait until it’s all over to find out the truth.
Of course, if you’re a Traitor and you’ve made it ‘til the end, this is the time to really watch your step. Slipping up could be fatal to your chances of winning, as if even one Traitor remains at the very end, they take the entire prize pot for themselves.
In The Traitors: Anywhere, you won’t just find out who won the game and what the final prize pot was. You and your fellow players will also be awarded accolades based on your gameplay, and your scores will be added to leaderboards so you can compare your scores within your team and against the overall leaderboard.
